Hot Import Nights in Seattle

One of my buddies runs with a local group of Civic Si's (I think specifically the hatches) and approached me with the idea of a joint meet between the groups. He was going to try to put something together the day of Hot Import Nights in Seattle, Sept. 30th. Meet somewhere in the afternoon, then caravan down to the show Saturday evening.

Any interest in such a meet?

Any interest in the Hot Import Nights?

Interest in both?

Just curious, please comment no matter how you feel, it helps us gauge interest for future events and activities.

my take is that the civic crowd (for this event in particular) and "our" crowd are... two very different crowds. I'm familiar with the HIN series in Seattle, in fact, I've even done some of their flyer and printing before... it tends to be much more of a thuggish and high testosterone crowd (and this is being very polite and PC).

ALTHOUGH, it could be cool too, as I'm sure our svx's would not be something these cat's usually see and it might be an interesting opportunity to get more exposure for our under appreciated car.

Totally agreed on all points. And I did explain to him that while I haven't yet met the rest of his "crew", that they are probably lean a bit different direction than us (just the fact that he referred to them as a "crew" for starters ).

As for the event itself, one look at the web site and it is definitely a different ballpark from anything at least NWSVX has done in the past.

Like you said though, it would be interesting to show the SVX off to a new type of crowd.

Who else has thoughts/opinions?

I think it would be fun to get together with another group sometime, but I don't know that this is the right one. But who knows.

After this last weekend, I am back on the kick of getting together with another Subaru group, or if there isn't one handy, just inviting Subarus from the various boards.

As for my friend's group, maybe I'll have to check out the crowd on my own sometime and see what they're about.

hehe yeah, good point on the whole "crew" aspect. just to elaborate, yeah, it is a different crowd, and they tend to be more geared towards big tittied big bootied ladys, and break dancing, and a dance party going on with turntables- while they have their rides "bassing" out in the background like it was an SPL competition. Lots of Neon lights, show off music kits, and less emphasis on the CAR and performance of it. The people tend to be a lot younger as well. I've dj'd at one of these things before, and it was a total meat market.

but. I'm not saying it wasn't fun. but if i had just been a spectator, i would of gotten bored quickly.

howeever, i REALLY would like to get together with some other subaru groups. I'm bummed I missed the WCS8 thing, how did it go macguyver?

WCSS8 quite awesome. Sorry you couldn't make it, and sorry I didn't stick around Sunday - had a long drive and wanted an early start. Saturday was definitely the highlight though, a lot of folks were already clearing out as they recovered Sunday morning.

6 SVXes there, and only 2 from up here. We realized that there is a fairly large and enthusiastic group of SVX owners in the Portland area, so hopefully some local meets will develop for you guys. But you still gotta promise to come up this way for a big event sometimes!

I'm hoping that they will have WCSS9 at the same location, it's a great place and a great event. In the meantime, perhaps I will look into setting up an All-Subie invite meet.

Turntables optional...
