I have grown fond of the Piesporter Riesling, as a general purpose wine, even preferring the Spatlese over the Auslese. Ilike the Anhueser and Fuhrs variety, but I can't seem to find it anymore, so, I usually end up buying the Schmitt Sohne Michelsburg, since it's so readily available.

And, no, Ron. You won't find it in a box.

I do ocassionally like a good Merlot with Veal and a good Ghianti with Farva Beans and Liver.

For everyday wine i've been drinking Yellow Tail Chardonnay. Their merlot is good too. It's an excellent wine at an exceedingly great price. I'm also a fan of Kendal Jackson Chardonnay. (Makes a great gift.)

I don't really care for wine. Actually, I don't really like anything alcoholic. It's not an 'I don't drink so I'm better than you' thing, I just don't like how the stuff tastes.

I'll drink Champagne occasionally...

Wine preference

For sitting around in the evening, almost any White Zinfandel (Corbett Canyon is pretty good). I don't like any red wines (dates back to an incident early in my drinking days -- don't ask) but I like a good Sauvignon Blanc or Johannesburg Riesling with meals, especially with white meat (chicken, veal).

Svxfiles always has a case of Asti Spumante in the beer fridge....
(He treats me well, 'cause I'm worth it!)

We have regular deliveries from Vicomte Bernard de Romanet

http://www.romanet-wines.com/

Maybe a little extravagant, but we don't get out much due to the little 'uns and work commitments, and a good bottle of wine costs alot less than a night in the pub.

I had some Trader Joe special, it was suposed to be from a major brand winery, a $30 a bottle wine for all of $5, and it was, I wish I bought it all up! For the most part I drink various cheap wines because I can't afford $30 a bottle on a regular basis and rarely buy the same thing twice. Mumm Cuvee is one of the best sparkeling wines I've had, and there facility is georgeous. They even have a gallery of artwork, very diverse place, Domain Chandon also makes a good sparkler. Anything in a box or jug falls under the heading "only if I didn't pay for it!" and even then is not prefered... I might take the wine tasting class next semester, but I'll be sleeping in my van every class night.

Ice Wine from Mission Hill
Muscat from Campbell's in Auzzieland
Port from Porto Rocho, '37 & '57 are my favorites.
Most American Port, IMHO, is horrible.

Beer - Guinness & Darker, Red Hook Blackhook & Winterhook
