OR try to pwn the snow with street tires.

Or just drive the truck all winter again.

buy a set of beater wheels (narrower than stock = better snow driving) for the snow tires.

swap summer/winter wheels yourself when you need to.

That was the original plan but Craigslist is filled with crap and people don't list enough wheel specs.

Re: 245/40R17 Kumho Ecsta in the snow.

I've got 205 Blizzaks on stock wheels, and they're the stuff that dreams are made of. I don't know if the RX7 wheels are as bad as you think, unless you've got your car lowered enough that you can't get two fingers stacked between the rear wheelwell and tire. A few turns of my spring perches to an appropriate ride height made my fit concerns go away with my RX7 wheels and 225 width tires.

Why does the second NO have an overwhelming majority?

I have the same setup, minus the "few turns of my spring perches" bit. Blizzaks are godly. It is a bit depressing going from the 245 Generals down to the skinny ass 205's though.

How about Probe wheels, don't those fit? Any 5-bolt Honda wheel should work (all the 5-bolts were 5x114.3 and around +45 offset). Visit a scrap yard, argue for 20 minutes because he'll want to charge you $100/wheel, and pay like 25-40/wheel.

Re: 245/40R17 Kumho Ecsta in the snow.

i got 4 new silver 5-spoke wheels from Natl Tire & Battery for $99 (thanks for the tip, Huck! ), and slapped the snows on them. had some cheap Winterhandlers, but damn, the SVX would go anywhere in them. svxfiles has 'em now.

i have Blizzaks for the LGT, but they don't inspire the same confidence as the WH's did on the SVX - the LGT's tires are wider, so maybe that's why it doesn't seem to go like a tank in the snow.

That's exactly what I would like to avoid. It may be a problem in the rear.

It's not lowered but I do prefer a taller winter tire.

Stems from a rebellious tendency, the need to stand out from the perceived majority.

Sure enough! If NC sees seven flakes of snow, is it true that they send everyone home from work?

Y'all are sooo invincible.
