Sorry bout the hijak

I also had a question regarding the removal of the 2-1 cat. Would it be possible to remove that cat and have true dual without serious ill effects?

On past cars where I've taken out the catalytic converter I noticed a strange smell, usually at stop lights. Also the exhaust note sounded funny. Cutting out the cat will give you like 2 horsepower.. hardly worth the money.

were these svxi because the svx has 3 so i dont think ud notice a smell with only 1 missing.

And to the thread starter no i wouldnt recommend cutting it out for power but if its bad and you dont wanna spend the money to replace it thats another story and i dont think there would be much if any of a loss.

im sure u could but why? it wouldnt be cheap from an exhaust shop and there wont be any performance gains over a camaro style muffler

People have had varying success with true duals. You want to be making more power than stock to go that route. Like I've said before, imagine each pipe being fed by a 1.65 liter engine because that is essentially what it is. The pipe would be too large unless yo ugo with a 1.5 or something.
