Only 2wd
I discovered today, that I only got 2wd.
It might have something to do with brake testing, as the spcecialist did not install the locking fuse prior to testing. What is broke? |

When you say "brake testing" what did they do? Do you mean, that now it will spin the back wheels? Does it make any noises? Harvey.

Re: Only 2wd
The brakes were tested 2 by 2 - front and rear. At a time it said "Klonk, Klonk, Klonk".
Activating the Diff. Lock, does not change anything. No warning lights. Nothing indicates any faults except of no traction from front wheels. Can it be the solenoid valve? It is an euro version. |

Danishstig: Find the transmission code. Read it backwards. The first letter you encounter that is a Z or a Y will tell you if you have VTD which i'm very sure you have. Y is VTD, Z is ACT4/MPT.
This happened to my VTD car too, prior to my ownership. You should contact Voldsund Motor in Ålesund/Nor and ask how they fixed it. They spent a lot of time researching the problem, ending up with a retired Subaru master tech from Switzerland advising them. It's exactly one year ago. If they can't find any shop logs on what they did, at least they will remember the debacle and put you into contact with the Swiss mechanic. I think the major thing done to my car was replacing a solenoid c and a plate set. Harvery, while we're on the subject.... did you or anyone else by any chance study the plantery arrangement used in SVX-generation VTD? B 4 U, he's blessed with 64% of whatever power his car got.... And with VTD, you are blessed anyway. The only major differences between RWD and VTD-AWD is better grip and greater tendency to understeer. The latter can be corrected with steering and agile footing and appropriate tires. http://www.voldsundmotor.no/ You can find my VIN for reference in the registration thread.

As you still have drive to the rears, the front drive gear is OK, or there would be no rear drive. If this is the way it was done, I would think that the Limited Slip clutch has been destroyed. While the testing was happening the clutch was applying to try to drive the opposite end, but just slipped. You can confirm this by setting the front wheels on a slippery surface, apply the hand brake, see if the front wheels will try to spin. This will confirm if the front drive line is ok or not. Quote:
