I often have to drive in very bad conditions because I work in the mountains at high altitude, so it's easy for me to be overly critical, even though I don't mean to be.
The tires are everything in the snow..... Conti Extreme Contacts are very good in the snow. At 45mph 5" inch new snow it's very surefooted. They are good all year round but do not hold dry corners as well as other tires.

I have seen people post that the Blizzac (sp?) winter tires are the best in the snow!!!

Take care of that SVX,

John

Yeah I do this!!! I park in "Don't bang my door land" three miles form the store I want to go in. And the driver side is always next the curb cause it's got no dings and that way no one can park next to the driver side.

You know you're an SVX owner when the only price you look at on the gas prices is the premium one - then your eyes fall out.

From personal experience ice racing, I'll take the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi's over any other winter tire on the market. They're pretty good in deeper snow, but do the best on plowed or icy roads (or in my case lakes). They'll waste a set of blizzac Revo 1's out on the lake, and are the tire you'll see run on almost every car at the Sno-Drift rally.

Et tu. Brutu?

Yeh, I like it.

I get lots of exercise walking to and from the shops from my favourite "safe" spots.

If you pick far enough away, there are usually plenty of spaces. I look for a corner one and then park diagonally in it.

This can have the effect of using up two spaces, but until the stupid SOBs learn to get out of a car without whacking their doors into my bodywork, I remain unapologetic.

I imagine most of the people round here think I'm useless at parking a car.

Around here parking in two spaces is a good way to get your car rammed with a cart purposely.

Space is obviously a problem where you are. If space was scarce I would not be so inconsiderate.

If you park far enough away from the entrance there are usually loads of empty spaces.

And nobody pushes a cart that far!!

ooh..Ooh, who was it that rammed a poorly parked rice box with his svx? Lol
I just park normally somehwat off to the side. The trick is...park between two cars that are gonna be there for a while (Employee cars, minivans usually, or the "obviously broken" car) You want to be somewhere low trffic, not necicarilly distant, because then you're likely to get singled out by runaway carts

Hey! I'm considerate! hehe I've sat in every seat in different SVXs and slept in the backseat on a long trip. I am comfortable everywhere in my SVX.

disclaimer: people of different sizes and shapes may vary in their seating experience.

Yeah, around here too...

When I was in college I had an old beat up 84 4WD wagon, rattlecan blue lol, and whenenver I'd see some punk kid with his Honda parked sideways across two spaces, I'd squeeze my GL in there so he couldn't get in on the driver's side... One day he got pissed (was like the 4th time he did it) and keyed my car, lol so I put a fresh coat of spray paint on that side (All his wimpy Honda key did was scratch the spraypaint off) and you couldn't even tell ) but I didn't give a hoot anyway cuz it was far from straight lol...

I'm kinda weird when it comes to driving. Parking, i'll only ever back into a spot, and park exclusively next to the separator curbs, so it's impossible to park on both sides of me(my office lot gets jammed, but i get there at 6:30am so it's empty upon my arrival). I have it calculated so i can back in exactly 1/2 inch from the curb, so that i'm as far away as humanly possible as the person who will inevitably park next to me.

I'm used to looking at premium only, i somehow always end up with vehicles that are premium exclusive. i was excited the other day when prices got down to $2.83/gal, and exlaimed so at lunch at work, not thinking about it. People were like "Umm... it's $2.62 everywhere i go" and i'm like oh, yeah, forgot. Boss keeps rubbing in how his hybrid gets 50mpg. He leaves at 3:45pm every day, i leave at 4:50pm. about 4-5 miles from my office on RT202, i end up passing him like he's standing still. I tell him i'd rather have the ability to do so than get 50mpg.

Is it a Prius or an Insight? The Pruises get on it pretty good, at least the one I rented for my honeymoon did (out pulled an F350 going up a hill) but I was not driving it like I had an egg between my foot and the gas pedal either... but even though the engine in those is only 75 HP, the electric motor is 70 HP with I forget how much torque, but since an electric motor can supply torque @ 0 RPM , when you plant your right foot, the engine winds up to it's peak torque RPM, and the electric motor goes to full power... It's kinda weird hearing the RPM climb and then stay there which the speedo keeps climbing...

The insight, on the other hand, instead of having electric traction motors (The Prius doesn't have a mechanical link between the engine and the ground, the "Transmission" consists of two electric motors, one coupled to the engine, one coupled to the differential, and a computer-controlled shunt) the Insight uses an "Integrated motor assist" in which there is an electric motor between the engine and the transmission that assists the engine, but it can't power the car on it's own like the Toyota hybrids can.

He has a civic hybrid. He's also about as far away from being an agressive driver as one can get, so i guess a hybrid isn't all bad for him. Still it seems like he has the car in for maintenance once a month, if not more. he also drives 110 miles round trip to and from work.
