Starting my 5 Speed Install! Help requested.

I already ripped everything out of my SVX and bought 04 WRX parts and a new Clutch/Flywheel setup.

I'm starting to do the pedals and ran into a slight problem. The brake lines that go to the ABS unit are in the way of one of the clutch master cylinder bolts. In all the pics I've seen of other peoples installs I didn't notice this problem.

ideas?

THIS F***** sucks!!!!! The '04 pedals are a B**** to get in! They interfere with the main wiring harness in the white plastic up top, and the brake booster push rod is so long where I'd have to cut it - there'd be no threads left. So I'm trying to take it out do I can use a tap and die set on it and the brake booster seems nearly impossible to pull.

getting mad

I had no problem with the wires on mine and I forgot about adding threads to the rod for the brake booster because my dad did that part.

They're in ...thank GOD. Once I got the brake booster out it was a heck of a lot easier. I just hope it still works. It was a pain in the arse to add threads to that thing. But everything is hooked up and seems to be in order.

I want to make some brackets for the upper supports just for reliability. Are you guys just using the 4 brake booster bolts, 2 clutch master nuts, and gas pedal bolts? or did u make brackets for the upper 3?

One thing I notice is that the pedals seem to be up high. I don't have the driver's seat in so I can't say for sure, but I hope my foot doesn't slip downward off the brake. Anyone elses seem to sit higher that stock? Higher meaning up into the dash area vertically.

So far so good though. ...I think it would've been 100x easier if I took the WRX's brake booster ...that should be on the laundry list.

I have the opposite...my pedals are low. I was worried about damaging the carpet with the clutch every time I go to start the car. I welded a plate to the pedal assembly so I could use the top 2 bolts. (the ones above the 4 for the brake cylinder)

Take a look in lockers of people doing/done 5 or 6 speed swaps (hint mine, Green1995SVX, Mychailo, Earthworm) and you'll find a lot of pics of how people handled their issues as they come up.

I don't have much (if any) in my locker of my swap but I did have a thread going when I did it.

Thanks for the help everyone ...I really appreciate it. If I need any quick help, I know who/where to go.

I guess the pedals are done. The new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate are on the EG33. I want to thread in the 2nd starter bolt into the WRX trans and then I'll bolt it up to the engine. Then it's just the driveshaft, crossmember, and linkage. But I figure that should actually go smoothly. I made a little plate to cover the hole where the clutch master goes. Came out pretty good.

I'll be starting again on Tuesday. And I never give up

Did you check that the clutch pedal has a full range of travel? If pedal can go its full range, you'll not be able to fully disengage the clutch.

With the clutch master cylinder not hooked up, and reservior empty, the pedal can drop all the way to the floor. When it does, it's locked by the diesel spring that's on the pedal assembly and I have to manually pull it up. I figured this to be normal operation with no connections to the master. Yes? No?
