How about instead of precats, small glasspacks into a Y that leads directly into the stebro resonator and then to a magnaflow muffler. Woud this take care of my buzz??

It will help, but may not entirely eliminate it. Depends on how long the glasspacks are. I still think that someone should try making one of the pipes leading into the cat longer than the other. I'm thinking that a 4-6" difference should get rid of the resonance.

How would you make one longer than the other?

I agree ...I think that's why aftermarket headers for subarus look so weird and definitely don't seem to be equal length: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-06...60459915QQrdZ1

One word of caution when putting anything in the system in front of the secondary cat....don't put anything that would "flake" pieces out into the exhaust flow (i.e. glasspacks) which would then foul the cat. You'll want to stick with resonators to be safe.

I can see what you mean, but they are all different lengths now. They all end up at the front of the third cat. The No.1 cylinder length is about 11" longer than No.6. This is to spread the resonate rpm over a wider range. If they are all the same length, they all come on frequency at the same rpms.

Yeah, but adding another six inches to one side will make an even greater difference. The only drawback that I can see is that it will take away some of the "porsche-like" sing at high rpms. It will probably sound more like a V8 mustang exhaust.

If anyone has access to welding equipment, it should be relatively easy and inexpensive to test the idea.
