Regardless of what we've been saying . . .

. . . the Eclipse is a decent car and you should be happy with it.

When you do decide to get another SVX (maybe in about 2015), try to get a '95 or later. From what I've been reading here, the problems with the newer cars are relatively minor by comparison with your '92. (I'm not dissing anybody here - it's just an observation.)

Stop by anytime. Any former SVX owner still has a more intimate knowledge with the finer things in the automotive realm than 'Joe Bigblock'.

Best of luck to ya!

Steve

<<From what I've been reading here, the problems with the newer cars are relatively minor by comparison with your '92.>>

You KNEW that sooner or later a '92 owner would respond to that, right?

"Generally speaking", I guess I would have to agree with you; HOWEVER, I would say it all depends on the individual car and the care it's been given - especially as time goes on.
I'd even go as far as to say that if the tranny overheating problem has been addressed with a cooler and/or the newer '94-on radiator, that a '92 might be the more desirable.
But that's coming from a '92 owner . . .

Indubitably Jerry.

Doesn't everybody know that '92's sneaked in with about 15 or 20 more horsepower, before the EPA people said
"This will mean they will have fun!! Strangle some of those horses, or everybody will want one!!"
or words to that effect.

Still, from an engineering standpoint, hard to forgive putting in a chocolate gearbox, and as for wheel bearings, *nobody* can tell me this is all to do with using wrong grease. Under-engineered methinks. No wonder Phast was phurious.

Phast,

Phast,

I hope that the Eclipse proves less troublesome for you than your SVX. I was nice having you as an SVXer. Good Luck.
