And Mike, when you put the panels back on after paint, make sure you don't push the plastic panel too hard against the rear fender... or the same ding will come back again

Thanks for the tip Danny.

I have re-assembled the Claret and other SVXs with success.

I had quite a few dings to take care of, along with the door rust, which has now been cut and welded. The car has been in at least three separate incidents, two of which happened before I owned it.

Re: My SVX got hit! ARGH!

no dings there danny.... just some dust from grinding the rust off in the first shot...

Working on getting the car in primer by this weekend, if possible

Doesn't hurt that the car is black, black shows everything.

My car is all gray primer right now, it will get a light coat of black primer as a guide coat and get block sanded, the two colors of primer will show all of the high and low spots. The larger ones will be filled with a glaze and then the car will get a good coat of high build primer for the little stuff, another block sanding, another black guide coat and another light block sanding to make sure everything is gone. It will be straighter than new.

Re: My SVX got hit! ARGH!

black showing everything is a blessing and a curse..this thing has to be STRAIGHT or else it isn't going to look quite right when it's done.... a tough thing to do when your welding patch panels, filling dents, repairing rust....

I have it about as straight as it needs to be right now. I'm wet sanding it all tonight...Will likely have it masked up and ready to shoot primer tomorrow morning

Tell me about it...

That is just roughed out, still needed to finish the wheel arch and a few other places. Even though this car isn't going black, we are making it straight enough that it could be.

You are planning to take the lower cladding off, right?
