another osbscure (but good chase scenes!) movie is "The Hidden". 80's Sci-Fi, bad alien steals Ferraris, and good alien cop drives a 928.

This is the best pic I have seen in a long while. Probably, because it is my era, and shows the problems that we Down Under had, with the lack of factory machinery. We had to build our own racing versions out of the production cars and bikes that we could get.

Bert Munro typified the era. Bought a new Indian 750 Scout, Side valve, and preceded to turn it into a 200 MPH Bonneville Streamliner. The opening sequence, of the V twin bike running at full song, on the NZ beach is sure to stir the feelings of all the bikers and "Triers" that lived that era.

Bloody fabulous.

I think it is that it is so authentic. Most of these type of movies fall down in the technical bits, but this is so true to the time. You have to be an "old biker" to notice the way he starts it up, in that early morning scene. Turns on the fuel, clicks it into gear, pulls the valve lifter, prods the back wheel over to prime it, then gives the back wheel a boot, to fire it up, puts his hand over the "Wal Phillips" fuel injector, to richen it up. ( the English Bikers would reconise this unit)
This is exactly how we started a high comp alcohol engine back then, and they did it right. The only bit that was not right was when he was filling the top of the piston casting. No body would use a file like that.

Harvey.
