ah, but you asked for the purpose... Installing and tightening teh boot clamp on a 1994 Subaru SVX (also removing said clamp, or for use as a nifty paperweight. not intended for internal use. if accidently ingested, call Poison Control Hotline. if you experience any nauseau, diarhea, or vomiting, discontinue use and see a doctor immediately.)

yep that's it. It is for reclamping the boot band. It's for the new style plastic boots. Too bad I didn't see this till just now

 Umm...If axle boot clamperizer isnt it, Ill guess...I dont know. But holy hell you can get ALOT of leverage with that sucker. Looks like you use 2 1/2 inch ratchets on that thing too. OOH, mabey it uses tourque wrenches... Still no good guesses. So that means CLEARLY it's a nose hair trimmer

It's a new 14 page service manual supplement that includes parts diagrams for the 1994 SVX FWD axle, torque specs and instructions for changing the boots. I bought it a couple years back from someone who advertised it as a service manual suppliment, not mentioning the FWD axle part. At the time I had a '94 AWD. If you want it PM me your mailing address and I'll send it off to you.
