HVAC Filter Change?
hi all,
i am wondering if anyone here has changed the filter for the HVAC, and if so, where does it go, and how much, etc. the reason i feel i need one is everytime i put on the vents my allergies go crazy, and there is a certain funk to the air coming out. i always remembered seeing the littel displays at kragen at the parts counter telling you how great it is to replace it, etc. so if anyone has any info, that would be fantastic. thanks a bunch jj |

Smelly HVAC?
Hi Intellibomb,
I used to work for a Toyota dealership as a Service Writer. In the summer, when people are using their A/C is when we would have trouble with smelly ventilation systems. There are two things we would do, and either one or both may work for you. 1. There is a product called "Frigifresh" we would spray into the inlet ducts. This is just a deodorizer and does not get rid of the root cause, it just masks the problem. 2. Make sure that you are letting your A/C cycle properly. Typically when people have this problem they are cranking the temp control to max cold (all the way over into the blue area) and turning down the blower when it starts getting too cold. The problem with this is that the receiver/dryer stays too wet and allows bacteria to develop and what you are smelling is the metabolic waste products of the new wild life living in your A/C. Instead, turn the temp control closer to the mid range and adjust your blower to give you more cool air. This allows the receiver/dryer to dry out and kill the little F***ers before they start to go wee wee in your system. Hope this helps, Russ. |

Item #16 in the JDM accessories catalog is an SVX air filtration system. Who knows what #17 is? http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/svxcess/246.jpg
