Door Lock Issue

Hi Folks,
I recently purchased a 1993 Subaru SVX as a project to keep me busy.
I need some help, when purchased it came with one key and no remotes, problem being that I am unable to unlock the doors from inside or outside with or without the key, all fuses appear to be OK.
Is there something I should be fixing or replacing?
Any advice & help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Steve

Re: Door Lock Issue

When just the remote is used to unlock the doors for long periods, the keyed lock can get stuck, from lack of use, spray a little graphite into the locks, and keep working it with the key, it should loosen up with some work.....if not next step would be remove the door panel and make sure all the lock rods are good, and functioning, then you could take the lock cylinder out and let it soak in some cleaner....but be sure to put a little graphite back in it when you get it all working, to help keep it lubed..

Re: Door Lock Issue

Thank you for advice, but unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the problem.
It seems to be stuck in the locked position and the only way I can open the door is by pulling up the internal lock button as much as possible and opening with the external handle.
Obviously I need to leave the window down or I would be locked out.
All the rods appear to be OK and I have tried removing the door lock fuse.
The car only came with one key and no remotes.
Any other thoughts would be much appreciated
Cheers Steve

Re: Door Lock Issue

Not that it matters much but not all of them had remotes. My otherwise loaded '97 had no remotes.

Steve the Australian car doesn't have any security, like the US ones, so no remotes.
Does the passengers door do the same?

Re: Door Lock Issue

You haven't pushed the "LOCK DOORS " switch near the window switches?

Re: Door Lock Issue

Doesn't appear to have a Lock Doors button near the window controls.

Re: Door Lock Issue

I wonder if aftermarket remote actuators are fitted and resisting the unlock?
Either way I would be pulling the door card off and pulling the lock mechanism out to check it.
