Did a few post painting things. Auto folding mirrors installed but not wired, installed reworked to brighter LEDs rear brake upper bar light and custom partial de-logoed center light. Next warm day hope to reinstall the rear quarter garnishes. Need to remove and dry out condensation in the rear right brake light housing.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I have done many things over the last several weeks, pulled the engine to drill out and extract 2 broken valve cover bolts found (as suspected cam timing was one tooth off, found (as not suspected) every cam cap was over torqued and 2 cap bolts broke when trying to loosen. Then the intake cam snapped and the timing belt tensioner was not reusable.......... all in all a very eventful eye opener.

So lucky for me a parts motor dropped into my hands at the perfect time and I was able to get the engine going while it was out I redid my clutch pedal set and ended up making it quite better, the pedals are low and work as they should. So after all that got it driveable and find that left rear cv axle is bent and so found a used one and am getting ready to install it.
I had HIDs one ballast went bad heard good things about LED's so managed to find some cheap and put them in now every outside light is LED and it looks good. (now to find all interior lighting in led's) lmao.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took out my leaky radiator, and drank a Stella.

And after browsing for a while, it looks like a bugeye wrx radiator will work just fine. I just need a wrx upper hose, and maybe do something with the mounts, but dimensions are very simliar and lower hose should line right up. Cool beans. Gotta love engine design commonality. Front of EJ engine basically = front of EG engine.

I had the rusted rear sub frame on the '97 replaced with a pristine one from San Jose California.
I traded my '99 Sierra with a rusted out body and frame for the labour cost.

there is no radiator fill neck on a WRX radiator, NO radiator CAP. They have a separate coolant fill tank…….same as a 91-94 Legacy Turbo. SVX has a radiator cap at the radiator, and fill neck on the radiator. So if a radiator from a bugeye fits, you would have to add the coolant fill tank someplace too, just to ADD coolant.

It depends on what YEAR WRX that you source the radiator from.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Something I have been wanting to do for a while, I painted the intake manifold. Originally I was going to just use a cast aluminum silver paint, but at the last minute decided to change to satin black. A bit of a quick and dirty job since I did not remove it first, but I think it came out pretty good.

Looks like a big tarantula. Best non-stock color I've seen.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Tried out a Legacy driveshaft on the 5-speed. Too long. Probably would have worked with the back half of my oem driveshaft, but I sold it. Womp womp.

God mad. Bought AMR coilovers and AMR radiator. STi wheels getting powdercoated soon for install with suspension.

Taking measurements to see if a 3" one piece driveshaft will fit on the car. 2.75" one piece wouldn't balance out over 70 mph.

It's only money, right?

Finally brought my car home! It's not fixed, in fact it is worse in some ways I think, but at least it's here after 8 or 9 months away.

I have never seen so much bird crap.
