Getting it changed next thursday at 10am, hopefully they wont find anything else wrong.
If everything is ok after that, I will see you at dragon meet in my SVX.

If everything is not ok with the SVX, maybe I will still come down in the 2010 legacy or maybe the 2014 mazda 3.
The meet seems like a good excuse to make the trip to go drive the dragon again.
Bring the new belt along, and I'll install it for free

I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to drive 3 hours down with it like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdbtWeLe21w

Is that really just my power steering belt?
I basically have no power steering right now, so I know there is something up with the steering.

At 54 secs you can see the dashboard warning lights when I crank the steering wheel to full lock.

Honestly I'm worried that its the alternator right now.. Is the alternator on the same belt?
Battery checked at only 120CCA on my 2 year old 700CCA battery.

Re: 2015 Dragon Meet

The alternator is on the same belt as the PS....but check your crank pulley too, to make sure it's not separating...put a mark across the face of the crank pulley, and after running it enough to make it squeal, shut it off and make sure the inner and outer sections are still lined up whee you marked it.

I have a single piece Perrin lightweight crank pulley, so not likely separating.

I feel better now knowing that the alternator is on the same belt, thanks.

Yep, you shouldn't have to worry about it separating ......
Just 3 days until I head down to Fontana!

So I go in for my power steering belt change at the subaru dealer and the master mechanic guy that works on SVX had an emergency and had to leave..

The other mechanic said he is not comfortable doing the belt change as he has never worked on an SVX.
They can't get me an appointment with the SVX guy until Tuesday..

So while my SVX was parked in the lane to get its belt changed, the lady in front of me backed her forester into my front bumper trying to get out.
No damage, but still, WTF...

So here I am home now, 2 hours wasted, with the new belt in my trunk.. So unhappy.

Re: 2015 Dragon Meet

It's literally a 10 minute job to change the PS belt ANY mechanic should be able to change it, it is no different than it is on an Impreza or Legacy...

Re: 2015 Dragon Meet

They quoted me 1.5hours for the belt change by SVX mechanic, and said this other mechanic said it will take him double that as he has to look everything up.

That offer to change it in the parking lot still valid?

They had 8 cars in lane when I showed up for my 1pm apointment, I think they just wanted an excuse to get a car off the list seeing they were down a man.

Then again.. It took them 1 hour and 45mins to change my oil last week..

Absolultely! I will happily change it for you at the meet, I'm actually headed down there early tomorrow morning, I'll PM you my Cell number, but cell service is spotty down at Fontana Village, so leave a message if you don't get me.

Re: 2015 Dragon Meet

I believe Saturday night is usually the cookout and get-together in the campground/cabin area. It was a fun time with good food and great company last year. Unfortunately I can't make it this year.

Re: 2015 Dragon Meet

Yeah they are doing a cookout at Fontana village.

I had fun, only went down for the day, I had to cut out early and skip the cookout as I got up very early this morning to make the trip down.

Here are 2 pics from the dam.

I am sure others will post all there better ones when they get home.

It''s an annual Meet, we've had it every year since 2003, so hope to see you next year!

We had 15 People, and 7 Subarus present....was off and on rain all day Saturday, but wasn't too bad, had a great Drive, and saw some new things, had a great Cook-out Thanks to Dave & Melis Everyone got some door prizes, and seemed to enjoy themselves.

Got to meet a few new people, and got to see several old friends...
I had a great time, as I always do, and will try to post up some pictures later
