Post axle question

Howdy,

Heya folks, been awhile since I have posted anything but I have a question. I have to replace my front axles soon and I
have never taken one off before to see what it looks like. I was told there are a few types of axles. The one the guy at NAPA showed me had a male and a female end. According to subaruparts.com and its diagram of the parts, it seems the one he has is wrong. That one looks like it has two male ends. The one he showed me is what matched his computer for my svx. It was only $60 and he had them in stock. So, is this the right one or not? What the he!! does it look like?

Thanks,

Danny!

Well, certainly don't know what the NAPA guy showed you, but on the complete unit the end that hooks to the transaxle is female and pinned through the housing into the shaft coming out from the tranny.

I only add that last part because I saw this bizarre Ebay add wherein the guy claimed the only thing wrong with the car was some "mechanic" tried to take the axles off without removing the pins, damaging the transaxle.
