Tilt wheel

My tilt on my steering wheel will only lock when the wheel is all the way down. Is it supposed to be like that or is it broken. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Re: Tilt wheel

There are two levers to tilt the wheel. The one you found will release it all the way to the upper location to assist in getting in and out of the car.

The other one is on the bottom of the steering column, in the center, back where the column goes into the dash. It is a small black tab with no writing. The only way to see it is to lay on your back on the floor, but if you feel around for it you'll find it.

Hocrest to the rescue.

Exactly what he said.

I love the lift function of Subaru steering wheels. I don't think they do it in the new ones though; but it is one of the greatest ideas.

Re: Tilt wheel

When I bought my Ebony the owner told me the tilt didn't work. He had owned the car for 4 years and never saw the other lever.

Re: Tilt wheel

It took me a few months to find mine. But yeah its there and its an awesome option. it makes it easier to get in and out of the car if you have problems just sliding in. I am young so I don't have that problem yet.

Re: Tilt wheel

It is funny, but there have been owners that have never seen some of the options that are on these cars until they see a post about them. When they do, it is like Christmas!

Agreed, a buddy of mine who had a 92 for about a year saw some parts that I picked up and I was showing him everything I picked up and mentioned the under seat tray and all he had to say was, "WHAT?"

Re: Tilt wheel

"Dim" button on the end of the turn signal stalk? - Sets the dash illum to full brightness when you have your headlights on during the day.

Re: Tilt wheel

Haha, I'm a new owner and was sooo pissed the wheel is either full tilt up like a semi-truck or dropped really low. Thankfully I've got skinny thighs lol.

Yeah, that was me until they told me about the other tilt switch. Now it has all kinds of positions. You do Know about it right. There is a telescoping, and one that makes it go all the way down or all the way up and then the one on the very bottom that adjust in several postions.

Like Dave said, the dim switch, under seat tray, someone I know was all surprised when I showed him the back seats folded down, and then my buddy even more surprised when he found out the 94+? LSi's have split fold rear seat.
That's all I can really think of right now, but I've gotten so used to everything that is there. I'm sure more people can add if they like.

Also to note, while researching and looking into them, it appears the underseat tray was not included in the 92 LS models and probably the later year L models but I can't confirm for sure.

Re: Tilt wheel

Don't forget the summer/winter mode switch for the wipers. And the large allen key hidden under the bottom felt of the center console to manually close the sunroof.
