Insurance

Ok is there any particular reason as to why the svx has such a high insurance cost? Just looking at the prices is already killing my wallet lol?

Agreed, I have liability on my SVX and when I was checking out rates for if I took it off and put my 2000 cavalier on with only liability as well, it would have raised my rates
This is a base model 2 dr cavalier we're talking here... so just the base 2.2l 4 banger and an auto trans. The SVX is cheaper than most cars to insure due to the AWD, passive ignition cut, ABS, etc...

Re: Insurance

My SVXs cost $172.50 each to insure per 6 months. I'm not sure where you guys are finding such high rates. My entire insurance premium for my Audi A6, Mercedes SL500, and both SVXs is $1190.10. The Merc makes up the biggest portion.

I have quite the penchant for speeding tickets, too, so I'm not getting any safe driving breaks.

Re: Insurance

I'd take my chances.
Merc makes more sense being short for mercury. I need to shop for an 83 lynx. TH

Re: Insurance

I'm currently paying $57/month for my car. Granted, that's only for liability, but last year I was quoted right around $100/month for comprehensive. Oddly, when I sought a quote for adding a '93 Justy to my policy, it would have doubled my payments. Go figure the worthless wheeled egg beater is worth as much to insure as the expensive sports car.

That's not the factor that's going to make it that high... what kind of tickets do you have on your record... For it to be that high, you would have to have had your license suspended at some point (or multiple times), DUI's, etc.... and even then, that's ridiculously high yet.

and to note, I pay $35 a month for just liability but if I wanted comp and collision added, it still would be under $100 a month with $500 ded on collision and $250 on comp...

We're in the same state but I don't get such an expensive rate. A friend of mine who is 21 and gets a quote of $90/month for liability only. I don't think it's the car. Maybe you're young, yes or what kinda coverage do you they quote you? If they quote you a 300,000 , 300,000, 300, 000 coverage, surely the premium would go up.

Shop for a few more, stay with one company, if you have good records, after six months, one year, the rate should go down.

I only pay less than $40/month for my main driving car, with multiple cars discount, I only pay another $16/month for my second car with liability coverage. Generally, good driving records, the last speeding ticket was more than 5yrs ago, no accidents ever at my fault.

I *would* pay around 1200 a year for comp being I haven't had a wreck. I am only 19, guess it varies by state. My insurance for just liability is around 600 a year now.
