Universal lips

The grille looks great but is anybody going to try this lip thing? I'm holding off to see if it looks goofy on an SVX before I try it..

I went to The Home Depot and bought gutter gaurd. They come in long peaces/strips, that have a slight bow through out the middle. Sometimes I see them in a pack other times there loose.

They come with like 2 or 3 small metal clips on it. I bent them off. You can see one in the picture.
Then I made a templete by tracing an outline of the grille on paper and I left about an inch or so on the top.
I put it to the guttergaurd and cut it out with tin snips. However I cut it out a little bigger than the template incase it was to short.
And from there I kept bending it and cutting it to fix the contore/surface of the grille.
Sanded off the sharp edges with sand paper.
And something I should have done was tape/cover around the perimiter of the stock mesh cause I made little surface scratch marks from taking it in and out so much when I was cutting it.
I still want to pant it silver this way it don't rust or oxidize. Even though its starting to after 2 years or so, I'll sand it out.
Right now mine is being held up with black electrical tape to match the black top part.
It took me around an hour it wasn't to bad. Pretty easy.



I can take pics of it this weekend. I'll try to make a thread for it this weekend.

ok you did this in an hour? Well I have to say i find this hard to believe. I've been screwing with this damn thing all nite off and on and I don't think it's possible to get it cut out exactly right. I have officially put an end to this project as I can see no resolve to it. Yours does look good but I will no longer waste any of my valuable time trying to duplicate what you somehow did. now I have porn to look at. Oh well at least I tried

First day impression.

I need better double sided tape.
I used tape for rugs and carpets and the corners of the bumper are starting to peel back a little.

other than that i still like it.

BTW i went with Universal Lip Version I (single layer rather than stacking 2 like the original Nasioc link)

Tomorrow, I promise.

What piece the grille you mean? I didn't take it off. I left it on the car when I did it.

LOL . It took me an hour, maby hour or two. Are you gonna be at reading? I'll try to do it for you in the parking lot if you want. If you get the materials.

...why not just unbolt the black plastic curb guard under the bumper and use that for a template to drill holes in the rubber thing, then when you install it sandwich the rubber between the bumper and the plastic. No need for tape, and it won't be all wavy and falling off

It's actually not a half bad idea...looks pretty good too
