No power when accelerating

Sometimes, I have very little power when accelerating. I have to press hard on accelerator to finally get good acceleration. Doesn't happen all the time. On the highway it runs great but it seems like that loss of power comes back between (45-50mph) unless I accelerate hard. Car idles low around 500.
The engine on this car is from my other SVX (same year) and I never had that issue when it was on the other car. Before I bring it to get it looked at somewhere, what can I check for?

(when engine was being transfered, spark plugs and timing was done.)

is this problem intermittent? Is your check engine light on? is there a misfire or hesitation while this problem is happening? if i had to guess based on the info given i would say it could be a MAF sensor problem

Thanks for replying so fast. Yes the problem comes and goes. No check engine light. What is the MAF sensor problem? Yes, there's definitely a misfiring and or hesitation.

I bet cam angle sensor, if when the car is running it won't rev above 5,000 and has had to work hard around that number it is a cam angle sensor. For some reason you won't get a CE light but take my word for it you lose power at both ends of the rev range.

I would check your engine codes anyway. I didn't get a CE for my crank angle sensor, but when I went to check codes it was there. Just something to look into.

The cam angle sensor is on the left side of the enginebehind the plastic timing belt cover. As mentioned it could also be the crank angle sensor. There are three of these type sensors and if any one of them fail they can give you grief. I think the cam angle & crankangle are the same so if you swap them over you may get different problems which would indicate its one of the two.

here are photos of the 3 sensors that you should check, start with the cam angle. I can tell you from experiance when all the sensors including O2's are working properly the engines pur like a baby even if they have 500k on them.
