Big pain in the a$$?

My brake band in my 4EAT is completely worn out, and I'd like to replace it. I know it's going to be quite a job but, has anyone done it before? Where would I get the part?(cheaper the better) Please help! I hate going from 1st to 3rd and no 2nd or 4th.

Okay, no replies.. What are some good parts sites to look for components like a brake band?

Cheaper, easier and better to find a 4.44 trans and rear and replace. Your going through the trouble of removing most of the parts anyway to replace the brake band and you will be happier with the 4.44.

I know, but I don't have the cash for a 4.44, if I had the green I'd do a 5 speed. It'd be a long while before I have $1k+ to do it

ok Nate, try Subaruparts.com and search for the brake band. I just hope that the brake band failure has not damaged anything else in the process

I tried subaru parts, no dice. Seems like they don't provide many component parts.

Thats the one! Looks like a fairly easy replacement, just gotta drop the tranny and split the case to put the new one in, shouldn't take more than a weekend. Thanks Tom, you're a life saver, but where did you get that diagram?
