I really have no comment. I am not the biggest fan in the world. I have seen a few in person and was not that impressed. The fact that someone wrecked on is a different story though...that's bad...

I know what you mean Rebecca, I tend to get possessive myself!

However, if you look at the guy's Bugatti as a business proposition, it makes more sense. If he rents the car [to people he trusts ] for 40 days in the year at £20k a day, he is paying for the car at the rate of £400k a year!! plus he gets to drive it for the other 320 days a year.

I think I will order me a Lamborghini Gallardo, and rent it!!

OK, the maths on the face of it is a little imperfect.

However, you blithely ignored or slid past the statement earlier in the paragraph, i.e. "look at as a business proposition"

Renting a supercar to ordinary Joe Soaps who are going to crash them costs money to set up and run. How much of the daily rate goes on insurance costs? How much of it goes on maintenance costs? How much do the tyres cost to replace?

You can bet the guy is lucky to pocket half of the rental money after costs are taken care of, which would bring the figure closer to the £400K I had in mind.

You English guys are a whole lot better at maths than you are at driving or assessing driving ability.

You are also forgetting the per mile charge, Joe.

A lot of owners of 'aging' exotics rent their cars. It's been a while since I checked, but about 15 years ago a 2-3 year Ferrari or Lambo would reap $200-$400/day + ~$1.60/mile. My S.O. tried to rent a Ferrari for us to go to the vintage races in Steamboat (always near my birthday) years ago. Unfortunately, she began inquiring too late. I had a good friend that was the service manager, at the Denver prancing horse dealer, and was willing to set it up but needed more time to find an available car and willing owner.

Generally it takes a trusted reference to get in the door. So, if you're under twenty five, work at McDonald's, etc..... you get the picture. For those that want to pursue this, go make friends at your local supercar dealer.
