Re: Once again, it's pronounced (and spelled) ECSAINE
Joe, you are correct,
I saw a brochure today at Classic Soft Trim in Southern California, on the back it read Alcantara [Europe] Ultrasuede [USA] Toray Industries. No mention of escaine on this brochure. I dropped off eight interior escaine panels, Classic Soft Trim will make patterns for all nine. Escaine panels are doors [4], dash [4], and the rear speaker panel [not escaine] A couple of the door panels I dropped off were beige, I'll see if those can be matched by any samples. Alcantara #771 was slightly darker that grey escaine in my '92 Pearl. There is another sample for a grey that is slightly lighter. Can't say how much the color of panels changed in my Pearl over the last 17-years. Classic Soft Trim already has patterns for seats and head rests. Alcantera could be stitched into the seating surfaces, with leather on sides, or whatever anyone needed. I saw a Tacoma at SEMA last year, the interior perfectly done in Alcantara by these guys, very nice work. I don't have prices for Alcantara, I'll update this when I have more info. Several colors of alcantara are available. Quote:

One thing I noticed about the quality of the ecsaine; in the UK cars that I have and also in the early 91-92 Japaneses cars I've had, the ecsaine on the dash and the seats seem to be of a similar heavy and robust quality. In contrast the pale grey ecsaine fitted to the JDM S40 that I have appears to be rubbish. It's most noticable on the dash. It seems to be very thin, and does not stay fitting well, with wrinkles where wrapped around corners. This was the time Subaru was cutting corners to make the SVX cheaper. The most penny pinching model was the Japanese S3 around 95, before sanity prevailed in the later S4. Do you guys in the US notice a poorer quality of ecsaine in the low spec cars, the ones with grey interior upholstery and grey rather than fake wood plastics? Joe

Re: Once again, it's pronounced (and spelled) ECSAINE
I've had so many English problems, and I still have, but I've never had problem with that since it has been always pronounced "eku seh nu" in JPN
