Noir, I really shouldn't read anything you write at work. I had to hold in my laughter. It's not healthy.

not enough time to do full-fledged research, but my indoctrination (a.k.a. edjumakayshun) taught me that the Founding Fathers were mostly Deists, as opposed to Christians. It still doesn't mean that we don't have Christian influence. IMO, the Christian influence came later. Again, too lazy to research it, but feel free to pick at it.

Wow... time warp! I swear I could just change a few names and dates, and I'd be reading an old newspaper article about early Vietnam peace protests. Interesting to see if it catches on and spreads.

Amazing the lengths people will go to just to get their face on TV.

"Come on lets go, there's a protest forming!"
"What for?"
"Who cares, the TV news is there!"

What breaking the law? Yeah, lets hope that catches on..

All they had to do was keep walking in circles and no one would have said boo, but they broke the law on purpose - to get arrested and to get their opinions on the evening news.

Of course the foreign press will simply state that they were arrested for being against the war, thus fueling the fire. Because lets face it, no newspaper would sell extra copies with a headline of "Dozens arrested and given misdemeanor fines for loitering."

it's great though. they can organize people, but they lack the foresight for getting permits for protests.

glad those PETA people learned from past mistakes.

There's a long history of civil disobedience being used in the United States to protest. I won't bother turning this into one of my infamous history lessons since I'm sure everyone here can themselves come up with a couple of examples.

Ask yourselves: what is the main goal of organizing a protest? You want to convince other people that your idea is the right one, thus paving the way to possible future change. But to do that, you have to communicate to as many others as possible. If they've never heard of you or your ideas, then obviously you can't convince anyone.

Getting yourself arrested for minor civil disobedience is just a typical American way of getting free publicity. It obviously works, or we wouldn't be talking about it now, eh?

A little quote from Neil Boortz' radio show;
"Sheehan's protest was organized by International A.N.S.W.E.R. I've told you about this group before. One of the moving forces behind International A.N.S.W.E.R is a cuddly little group called the Worker's World Party. That's a communist organization, in case you didn't know. The Worker's World Party supports governments like those of Kim Jong Il in North Korea and Fidel Castro in Cuba. The Worker's World Party and other like-minded organizations formed International A.N.S.W.E.R following the Islamic terrorist attacks of 9/11 in an attempt to forestall any U.S. military response to those attacks. In the leadership of International A.N.S.W.E.R you will find people who have been supporting communist causes and working for the weakening of America for many many years. The groups behind International A.N.S.W.E.R have also called for the abolition of private property. This is the group that Cindy Sheehan, for now, at least, has adopted as her own. She sure knows how to pick her friends."
