Give them time. Olds used the 4-4-2 moniker on a rather pedestrian Cutlass. There was a Ventura based GTO in 1973. The Impala is now front wheel drive. Chrysler used the Charger name on a front wheel drive 4 cylinder in the early 80's. Nothing is sacred. The "Hemi" engine Chrysler is throwing around doesn't even have hemi heads. It's just a name they thought they could used for attention, and it worked. They love the whole "that thing got a Hemi?" marketing.

Calling a Cobalt a Chevelle would be an AWEFUL idea. Which is why I can't understand Chrysler using the Charger name. If they would have called the SRT-4 a Challenger or Super Bee people would have flipped.

Whether you like Daimler Chrylser's new offerings or not, the popularity of the 300C and Magnum as well as 'Hemi' option in the Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram trucks is undeniable. These vehicles and the 'Hemi' engine are making the company bleed black.

And while the new age 'Hemi' engine doesn't make 400+hp like the old one, 345hp isn't a total slap in the face. I am happy that Chrysler is at least developing their new models on a rear-wheel drive platform.

unfortunately you're not looking at the engine in your driveway. the 300C looks like a low rent Rolls Royce.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the 300C, but a lot of people are and it's the biggest sales hit at Chrysler since the PT Cruiser...

They're giving buyers what they want. If not, sales would plummet like Oldsmobile, Buick, etc.

I still can't believe it's going to be a four door. That's just beyond words. Even better - the 300C will be available this year with a 420hp HEMI option...but the charger only gets the 345hp motor. WTF?!

That leaves room for the Charger SRT-8 that they'll release in the following Model Year...

it would look nice with a sleeker front end and more or a low-profile IMO. i hate how everyones going with the "sit high in a low car" look. 3-4 years ago dodge had a different concept for a new Charger and it was much much nicer (t'was still a 4-door though).
