Tranny and Engine swap costs

How much would it cost to take a good tranny out of a bad car and put it in a good car?

Same with an engine.

The thing is I was going to buy an SVX with a bad tranny and put mine in it but I'm starting to think that it may just be cheaper and easier buy a running one, that way I could sell my engine or tranny too.

It won't cost anything if you do it yourself, and you have a good tranny and motor.

Can do it in a day

Well...I could get a tranny installed around here for $200 or less.....maybe $300 for the motor...just got to find a place with a decent reputation, and decent prices...

Angry

Now I am pissed!

What I need is to have two tranny's taken out and have the good one put back in the good car.

I can't find ANY place that will do it for less than $450.

Maybe I should look around for someone with their own garage.

This sucks

A bit of advice, you are not customizing another engine in the SVX, it's the same engine, so each plug or hose or... has it's proper place.
I suggest you get some friend with mechanical skills, buy an engine jacker (is it called that ? maybe engine lifter) for $150 and do this whole issue with your friend... give him like a $100 for his help. it won't take more than half a day.. the whole thing would cost you $250 plus you gain the engine lifter..

Minimum wage of $/month 250. but mechanics over here get paid for work done not on an hour basis... you make a deal with him to replace the engine or tranny or....for a certain amount. replacing both cost $100 but insisting on a discount you can get it done for $75. I am doing my mechanical things for free, because we own a shop where a mechanic works for his benefit while fixing our cars for free. he works there without paying any rent fees. over here mechanics are poor people, and this guy has 3 babies to support, so it was a deal...

In the states you are worried about labor costs, over here it's more like parts costs. A professional paintjob costs over here a maximum of $1700 (the guy is a thief, but real professional paintjob) and a minimum of $200 (low quality, used by used cars dealers). I got mine painted for $1350 along with the fiberglass kit...

1 US Dollar = 1,516.10 Lebanese Pound
1 Lebanese Pound (LBP) = 0.0006596 US Dollar (USD)

I think this may be the reason things are so cheap....

yes our economy is in recession. 1 USD = 1507.5 LBP
20 years ago it was 1 USD = 2.2 LBP, but we had some wars over here and..... I don't wanna go into politics...

... 250$ a month is about 1.65$ an hour based on a 40 hour work week... kinda explains the low labor prices.

and Silver, for painting a car, a LOW cost crappy paintjob over here is about 500$... a good one is about $3000
