I swear I didn't know anything about any of this.... .... I heard something about an earthquake in CA, but after that nothing... That is pretty cool that Mt.St Helens might go up again Where exactly is that??? Isn't it in Washington?? I've been paying too much attention to the Altlantic to worry about what was going on in the Wast..

I remember it like it was yesterday.

I heard the eruption, even though I was 100 miles away.
Then there was the dust.....we didn't get as much as Portland or Eastern Washington, but he did get alot.
I also remember the haze in the air, kids were told to stay inside, old folks had resperation problems. It was a ball o'fun.

i still remember the 1980 eruption. we had a substantial amount of ash in colorado. i used to have a bag full of it, but i'm sure my mother threw it out when i went away to college in 1987.

it blew today, at 12:03. No big deal though, just a plume of smoke. The tremors have stopped, so maybe its done for now. My family has pictures of when it last erupted, there was ash everywhere .

Mt. St. Helens

One of my very first memories was the May, 1980 blast. I remember going out into the grey, ash covered backyard of our Fall City home and my mom helping me collect some of the ash in a baby food jar from our picnic table.

I still have that jar.

Thumbs up

Brings back memories. I worked for a school district in Mead Washington, outside Spokane. It got very quiet before the ash started falling. We went my folks house to sit it out. Spent days shoveling the ash off the roofs of the schools. I had 5 gallon buckets full. Humm! Wonder where they are? Wait for the next one I guess.
