Well, my wife is sold. She wants a BAJA.

Not sold on a color yet but it has to be a turbo and a 5 speed.
(5 speeds are hard to find)

I was not real impresses when they first came out but the Turbo really makes them more appealing. (If only they would lose the cladding )

So how many others here have bought the new BRAT and what are your opinions on them so far?

Test drove it. Not bad, but not great. Definately a late model filler to keep production rolling.

Things that kept it from coming home.
1. No idea what the weight limit is for the back. (Subaru didn't even know)
2. Flat bed. (Wouldn't drop a 50lb bag of crap in there or it'll dent and you won't see where it is compromised when its rusting.
3. The price was quite high considering they had a 155 day supply when we were looking.

Jesse, does this mean that the two of you are back together? I must have missed something.

Congrats, how much did you get for her??

They are slowly growing on me also, and the ones with the same color top and bottom disguise the large cladding...

I agree with Ben, they are not made for hauling, but most people with a truck don't use it for that anyway.

I know not many around here put much stock in reviews by Consumer Reports, but for what it's worth, their frequency-of-repair feedback on the Baja has been "disappointing for Subaru," or words to that effect.

last year, when the turbos came out. i test drove both the forester 2.5xt and baja turbo. i like the apparent build quality of the legacy-based vehicles over the impreza-based ones. i would have chosen the baja at the time, but decided to wait until the turbo legacys came out this june.

Build quality??? Did you compare it to British Leyland????

Our GT has the worst build quality of any car I've owned since my 3 weeks with an 83 Buick Century.

i forgot about your experience. when i said build quality i should have stated quality of materials. the impreza-based cars feel like they were put together using cheaper materials whereas the legacy-based vehicles seem more upscale. they feel significantly more solid and are much quieter. my new legacy has one glaring build defect and one minor one. there is about a 1/4" gap where the door panel meets the dashboard on the driver's side where it's at most 1/8" on the passenger's side. also, the paint does have the slightest amount of orange peel texture. mechanically, i have yet to find a single thing wrong with it.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

If my wife wanted a Baja, I'd sell her, too. Tough break, but what are you gonna do?

Question

How do you price a used wife?

I mean I don't want to price myself out of the market and have to hold on to her over the winter.

It all depends on the mileage and if there is any rust or body rot.

I think you just made up the part where we actually separated No thinks are fine.

As for the rest, yeah Kelli it will have to be all one color. She likes the silver or all black. Do they make an all pearly yet?

The dealership doesn't even have 05 brouchures yet

I've tried swaying her into a new GT but she doesn't want one. She says there ugly

Anyway, it's her car, it's what she wants. I want have to constantly fix things on it to keep it on the road so it's all good.

I don't think wives are actually sold. Considering how much money you have to put in to them you're actually paying someone to take them away
