Question Need some advice

Hi, everyone. I have a list of fixes for my svx. There are so many that I dont know which to do first. Heres the list.

Timing belt
Water pump
powersteering fluid
brake pads
front brake rotors
fix my exhaust leak
get my grille painted

I will probably do the steering fluid this weekend. But other than that I need some advice on what prices for the items are. The timing belt and water pump are fine I just want to change them along with the rest, so I wont have to worry about it for a while. I already have an exhaust shop helping me with the exhaust. but I would like to know where I can find the best deal for the rest of the parts.

Thanks,
--Miles

i cant believe nobody has chimed in.
getting that water pump replaced is all important. without it you cant move. the timing belt should be done at the same time.
get your brakes done next. stopping is important.
ps fluid is just dexron 3 tranny fluid. if the wheel gets stiff, you need more.
painting the grill is up there? whatever floats your goat.

prices: cheaper if you have connections

water pump - a alot
t belt - half as much
rotors - just as much
brakes - depends, regular, carbon, or porcelin

I'll chime in, but can't address prices as I usually try to do the work myself. Lots of references on the forum as to parts suppliers, i.e., SubaruParts.com, 1st Subaru, Kerven Subaru, SubaruPartsGirl, just to name a couple.

Which of these items are required and which are desired and/or maintenance. If the latter, then I would tackle an exhaust leak first.

When you do the water pump, they will have to pull the timing belt, so replacing it at that time only makes sense. Many here have recommended that the crank and cam seals be replaced at the same time. My car leaks oil, but only leaks/uses about 1/2qt between changes so I'm deferring the seals - I was one of those who skipped the seals when changing the water pump - now I wish I didn't.

Hope this helped.

well he said someone is already working on the exhaust.

Yeah I do have some connections I work at a used car dealership as the "internet guy" selling cars on ebay and doing online inventory. So I get worked on at the same price that the cars on the lot do. I realize the importance of the water pump and timing belt but there is nothing wrong with them. They have been changed about 1.5 yrs ago. but 1.5yrs ago I did not own the car, so I figured that I would go ahead and have everything replaced. Thanks for the help.
