trunk lifts

what's the deal with the crappy trunk lifts? are their aftermarket lifts that will fit, or do i have to buy the $50 (each!!!) part from subaru? i pretty sure the trunk will fall on me and crack my skull if i don't fix it soon.

check Pep Boys/Autozone/Advance Auto/your local auto parts chain for generic replacement trunk shocks.

I'm not sure if I need these or not but here's my issue:

The trunk stays open by itself perfectly fine, but if I let go while closing it, IT SLAMS shut. Also, it's EXTREMELY hard to open and definitely needs a big lift. Is it the shocks?

trunk lifts

As a matter of fact, I just replaced my trunk lifts TONIGHT! It lifts easily, and does not slam! A cheap way to feel better about your car.
It took 15 minutes, and I paid $44/a piece for them.
