Door lock 'Flapper"
The lock on my driver side door has a problem. The metal flapper that is normally shut when the key is removed is hanging open. Not a good thing as water, rain and snow can enter. Lubrication has not helped to free it up. I think it has to be replaced. Any idea as to what part it is as shown here. I do not know if it's the entire lock cylinder or just a part that goes in front of it.

Yes... it is not shown on there.... Givin where you live it is probably the spring that has rusted and broken. they are realy small springs but you can replace them yourself if you can remove the lock.
I cant get you a picture of it right now, but i do have a few springs that should be the same as the svx off of legacys. |

That is really good news. I like to fix things and adding a spring is great.
Is it a small torsion spring?

yes. it is a spring that runs straight up and down the same legth as the flap. just pull the panel off and pull the lock out it probably has a spring clip or 10mm bolt holding it.

The best way to keep snow out is to move to Florida.
I don't know about this one but I tried to repair another and it was difficult to get to the part where the spring lives. Randy |
