Blower/Heating/AC/Defroster

Several problems...
When I put on the a/c, heat, or defroster there is an itial thumping noise like the air flow door is opening or closing with a thud...any ideas?
The windows were steamed up yesterday from the rain and when I push on the defrosters with the temp at 65 degrees, it only cleared the bottom few inches of the windshield. Eventually I changed it to heat (72 degrees) and it cleared. How should the windshield be defogged?
There doesn't seem to be a lot of force blowing out of the vents at any of the three speeds. Air is blowinmg out at each speed, but compared to other cars I have, this seems considerably less. Is this normal?
Finally, I had a new compressor and receiver/drier installed yesterday. It still doesn't feel cold enough. Could there be another issue with the system? It was only in the high 50's yesterday. Could it be that it has to be warmer outside before it starts blowing colder inside?
Any advice on any of these issues is appreciated.
This system is driving me nuts!!!!!!

Significant Technical Input
Check the air door control motors, they have a habit of coming loose and not fully operating their doors. Look up under the dash on either side, ther should be a box, slightly smaller than a pack of cigs. Try wiggling it and if loose, tighten the screws.
