Northeast Snow Report

Hope you guys are weathering well. The Weather Channel is making a big deal about this. Would love to hear the truth.

Re: Northeast Snow Report

We got 9" of heavy snow. Since many of the trees have not lost their leaves yet they became very heavy with the snow and there are down branch all over the place. Our electricity has been off since Saturday afternoon. My house is all electric so I have no heat and can not cook anything. There are so many outages that they are estimating it will be off for at least 2 more days. And how was your weekend?

Re: Northeast Snow Report

My weekend was picture perfect but, being part of this forum, I wish you well and hope no harm comes to you and fellow members. True concern being expressed here.

Re: Northeast Snow Report

Get your jump starts, gents, but when the lake cools off just right, we're gonna bury ya. We got some snowlike rain (you know, that stuff that wanted to be snow but just couldn't pull it off) and beyond that... nuttin' but the cold.

Re: Northeast Snow Report

Weather sure is weird. It's usually knee-deep in the white sh1t by now up here and -90deg, but I'm still outside with just a sweater and the golfers are still playing. I've got new studded snow tires for my '97 still sitting on the shelf.

In typical Canadian fashion, though, we're all saying we'll pay for this sooner or later.

Drove up to New Jersey with friend from DC on Saturday afternoon...half way up the rain turned to snow and driving became difficult. Lots of trees down, one blocking much of the Garden State Parkway. My friend's house lost power Saturday afternoon and still does not have it. His area looks like a war zone with all the tree damage. On way over from Newark to JFK sunday afternoon snow disappeared by the time I arrived at the airport and I did not see any damage. Glad to be home in SLC and have heat and power!

Re: Northeast Snow Report

No snow here yet, strangely. We usually get our first accumulating snow during the third week of October, but no sign of any snow yet, and still some pretty mild temps.

Re: Northeast Snow Report

Well we lost power for 3 days . Got it back today. Trees down all over (one on top of my car) ( see Close Call in this forum for pictures ) A lot of fire wood to be had for the taking . Our park in town has only 2 or 3 trees that did not get damaged . Anyone need 150 candy bars No trick or treaters .

Re: Northeast Snow Report

I just got power back an hour ago.
We have been without power since 5pm on Saturday.
That was 94 hours total without power.

This came crashing down at about midnight right in the front of my driveway were the 2010 legacy is normally parked.
Good thing I moved the svx to the back yard so we could pull the cars back.

I had moved the SVX into the back yard so I wouldn't have to move it for the snow plow.

I got nervous because the tree in the back yard had been losing limbs all night.

So I pulled the SVX up as far from the tree as I could.

Then at about 4am .. another loud crack and thud.

The next morning I went out to see what happened.

FUN FUN FUN!

Re: Northeast Snow Report

Yeah that tree in the back yard over the deck is coming down, called the tree guys already.
We had to take a tree down back by the barn after Irene, we almost had them take the one by the deck at the same time, but we like the shade it provides.
The tree by the deck did $12,000 in damage to my neighbors sons car in Irene.

Re: Northeast Snow Report

Well I got my power back on. Boy did that SUCK. When it finally came back on half of my electric was still off, so we had another day with partial power while waiting for the electrician. It is all working now but looks like we will be replacing the circuit box soon, since we learned that it is pretty outdated. Other than the electric, the was storm was kind of cool, once in a lifetime event. I've always liked snow, and hope this means we will have a good ski season this year.
