Engine Weight
I used the scale at the local dump to get a weight when I shipped my motor. I got 460 lbs with the pallet it was on and they say their scale is accurate to closest 10 lbs. That weight seems a bit high, anyone else think so?

Re: Engine Weight
My friend and I carried mine from my truck to my shed with 2x4s and straps and I said it's the heaviest thing I have ever carried. I guessed at 500 lbs so the scale is probably right.

Long block, heads, oil pan, intake manifold, throttle body, but not the headers, alternator, AC compressor, power steering pump? That sounds light.

Re: Engine Weight
Complete longblock, Tom, with oil pan, intake manifold, a/c compressor, alt, steering pump, wiring harness, no headers, and a standard wood pallet. It just seemed easier to maneuver around when I pulled it and when it was on the stand than I thought 460 lbs. would be. Maybe I just don't know my own strength.
I was wanting to bring the bad motor back with me as there are plenty of good parts still on it. I guess it's probably too much to put in the trunk even if it did fit.

And its good to hear "Country Boy talk." I still remember the first 3421 times Mountain Men would cross their arms, stare down at me and say; "You aint from here, is ya boy!" Twenty years ago, as a steroid abusing 220# city boy, I was unused to hearing; "Little Fella", and "Little Buddy." Yep, things are sure different here in the country. Now Sunday is Mothers day, so me and the Missus have to get our...... I'll stop there! Reading is coming!
