Idle speed observation
Ever since I cleaned my throttlebody and replaced my IACV, pcv, I have noticed a higher idle.....
Normally when the car is at running temp I am observing 1000-1100 rpm...when I go to park and put the transmission in "P" the idle jumps to 1500 rpm and stays there. I know I didn't loosen the cable nuts and adjust the slack on the throttle cables or touch the TPS at all other than to unplug it, but what has caused this? What is a good solution for this as well? |

Re: Idle speed observation
sounds like a vacuum leak, spray carb cleaner around where you were working to see if the idle jumps at all. could also need to reset the computer to relearn the iac valve position.

Re: Idle speed observation
I don't suspect a vacuum leak because I had that tested before I worked on the car when I experienced the symptoms. The mechanic sprayed to check and he said it was ok, but I guess I may have to do that again.
Other than disconnecting the battery and waiting overnight, how do you reset the computer? |

Re: Idle speed observation
I've discharged the system before by disconnecting the neg. battery, then turning the ignition to "on" and then turning the headlights on...that usually gets the residual out.
That being said, I had the battery disconnected when I took apart the TB and replaced the IACV so the computer was reset originally. |

Re: Idle speed observation
Yes I know about this, but my soft reset never worked from day 1....I always have to disconnect the battery and let it sit overnight.
