Re: Smoke on startup
I would say that is oil smoke on start up. ,( oil is blue, fuel is black, water is white), it would come from the induction some where. It could be from the Axillary air valve as Surteess says, if it is only there on the first start of the day.
Harvey.

I wonder if the quality of my video makes it look blue. It looks white to me, but I want to try that AAVC. If it is white smoke what would that mean? Where is the AAVC located. Pics would be appreciated. |

If it is only on the first start up for the day, and disappears within a few minutes, or every start up? It has to come from somewhere. Water would have to come from the cooling, so the water level in the rad will drop. If it is fuel, it like to be a leaking injector, that the residual pressure is leaking through when you turn it off. Also from the fuel pressure regulator, vacuum hose. The AAVC is under the left/rear side of the inlet manifold, you can see the two hoses that go to it. Pull the hose off the air box, see if there is any oil in it. Harvey.

I agree it looks like it could be oil smoke too. Who did your engine rebuild? |

Re: Smoke on startup
This place called triwerks, but it was before I owned the car and the place has since shut down (wonder why). I just hope it isn't something big, but it will be 2 weeks til I am back to look at it. It seems to be every start up but like I said I haven't been driving it so maybe I need to take it for a spin, and then see if it is still smoking.

Re: Smoke on startup
CHECK THE HOSES ON THE AACV - it costs you nothing to do this in the morning (before you start car up) - there should be NO OIL INSIDE!!!

Re: Smoke on startup
So there were four spots under my car today. Possible it is oil and power steering fluid, but i think its oil. I gotta to that AAVC as soon as i get back from out of town.

Re: Smoke on startup
Yeah definitely check the aux valve and you can use a white paper towel to help you identify whats dripping.

Re: Smoke on startup
The whole underside looks like it is dripping. Definitely valve cover gaskets and the rest I have no idea. I will have to wipe a lot out of there. Thanks for all the help thus far, I really don't want to sell my car.
