rough idle, low power

Need some suggestions here.
Background: Check engine light on. Then car would not start. Got it going by holding pedal down and cranking until it started. Ran rough for a minute or two and then it was fine.
Took it to local garage: They replaced the temp. control sensor. Still would not start. Replaced the plugs. Now it starts no problem but idles rough and runs rough.
Today I noticed it really does not have the acceleration it used to have and lacks overall power. Runs rough.

I am taking it to Subaru mechanic next week for proper diagnosis but i thought someone here may have exprienced a similar problem.

Thanks

Presuming the check engine light is still illuminated, --- to get a "proper diagnosis", you should best search here, and then do it yourself for free.

Re: rough idle, low power

I had similar problem. My light was for Code 56, EGR . I reset the code, the light went off, and the car is acting normally again. Pulling the code and resetting it was very simple.

I have only had my svx for about 3 weeks now, so when I tell you that pulling and clearing the codes on it is very simple, I mean VERY simple.

I had a harder time getting the kick panel trim back on than I did with anything else. It was a pain to line up the push rivet things...

You should always pull codes before taking it to a repair shop. If you know what is wrong before hand, you can find out what it would cost to fix it, so you know if your getting raped at the stealership. Plus they wont be able to lie to you and say its throwing some major code when you know the code yourself.

See the attached .pdf file for the how to with pictures and code list.

Re: rough idle, low power

Just a final followup with the problem. Turned out it was a bad coil. Subaru replaced the coil and it is running fantastic.... man I love this car...

Re: rough idle, low power

One bad coil would not have stopped it from starting.
