How Do We Get Our Overseas Svx Brethren To Reading Xii Or X......

Silverspear,

If you can get to the USA (east coast) in early April of 2011, my '97 will be available to you for driving to Reading (Morgantown, PA.)
As USA SVXers, I think we have to help our SVX networkers who are overseas to come to the Reading Meet. Most of us oldtimers like myself are are no longer working and money is a bit tight so we cannot help with airfare, but we can always help with putting you up in our houses, feeding you, and in my case giving you an SVX to drive.

John, Ron, Harry, Dianna & Tom, let's discuss this at Rading so we can prepare for next year. Earl, I hope you can do the same for your fish fry.

Interesting indeed, but what about someone flying in from the West. Where would be the most economical point to land in the US and suitable for hitching a ride?

Maybe a flight the other way could be on the cards. When I have visited Europe I have flown a round trip, eastwards out from here, and back from the west. Strangely it was cheaper, on a round the world discounted basis. Must do some checking.

Re: How Do We Get Our Overseas Svx Brethren To Reading Xii Or X......

Larry I cannot thank you enough for that offer, I really appreciate that.
But I really don't want to bother you or anyone with my trip to the US and reading. I will probably reside in a hotel nearby but I will definitely need someone to pick me up in an SVX to reading . It wouldn't be an SVX meet if I show up in a cab

The point of reading to me is to meet the SVX people first and discuss SVXi later. Even if the trip will cost me a lot in $$ figures, it would be peanuts $$ compared to the emotional feeling of meeting all the great people such as yourselves.

One problem might be here with April 2011. I am still discussing with Ms SilverSpear the issue of "egairram" in April (sh!t I cannot spell it right ). This also might be pushed further to the following summer, it is all related to me returning back to Leb for good or not right now. I should know something by latest July 2010.

And I dunno if you read the other thread, but Ms. SS is going to Anaheim, Ca in June this year to participate in a tech conference. She got her Visa since she is a speaker in the conference, but I haven't yet. I applied to it, crossing fingers to get it before June. If not, the validity should be between 1 & 5 years, I will use it for reading.

Thanks again Larry and I will keep you posted.

How about you applying for a visa to be a speaker at a technical forum on the "braking ability of modern sports coupes" to be held at the annual SVX (Society of Vehicular Experts) Convention to be held in Morgantown, Pa.; in April 2012?

Interesting timing for this thread.... by sheer coincidence I'm looking at what would be involved in shipping a car, say my SVX, to the US and back to NZ as a temporary import/export. It's definitely possible... just a question of cost really..

If we could make it work, imagine the possibilities... now that would be cool.

Under the same arrangements...I'd be happy to bring the rally car over from Australia...if we could have a test track nearby, I'd happily give members rides!

Think of the possibilities!

All of this needs to remain communicated, because I will do my very best to be at a meet involving our worldly brothers/sisters!!!!

I can imagine the possibilities! Ewie can ship his car to the US (Burlington, WA) and I can pick him up at the airport, show him around and then take him back to the airport. It was great getting top know you! Oh, what SVX?

That is an open inventation for anybody on the East side of the US or anywhere else as far as that goes. I am more than happy to pick up someone at the airport and loan them a SVX for the Dabob Seafood Meet. Just watch for the details on the Northwest forum for the dates and details. Let me know if you are thinking about it and we can come up with the particulars.
