Ford Ranger problem

I own a 2001 Ford Ranger with automatic hubs, The 4 wheel drive is stuck on LOW and it won't switch back to 2 wheel drive. I checked the fuses and they are good. No luck on the Ranger forums. This site seems to have the most knowledgeable bunch of guys and gals. Any comments appreciated.

Re: Ford Ranger problem

Did you tried switching to 2H and backing up the truck 10 feet at a speed under 3MPH?
Otherwise your shifting motor can be stuck, if thats the case, a hammer can gently solve the problem.

Re: Ford Ranger problem

Thanks for the link! I tapped on some of the relays and it worked. I'm not sure if that was the solution, but its working. My mechanic told me what you mentioned Max. Go in reverse and turn the wheels so the wheels will turn at different speeds. He mentioned that this would loosen the spring load of something etc. Anyway, the write up on that link is fantastic, Thanks!

Glad too see that it was easy to fix.
