My New Springs Clunk Solution
A buddy of mine and I installed a set of springs from Dayle at Motorsport Warehouse. It was immediately after this that I got the dreaded "changed my suspension clunk".
Dayle was very helpful with advice regarding what my problem might be. The spring perches looked to be in very good shape, considering the car's age and mileage, so I had a tough time believing that they could be the problem. Still... I brought my SVX to Fehlman Bros. in Syracuse (my regular shop) for an alignment, mounting of new tires, and an oil change, and I asked them to check out that clunk. I got a call back, and here's what they found: The holes where the front swaybar endlinks were bolted had become elongated. The shine on the surface around them showed that they had been moving. George in Service suggested that they should weld a couple of washers at those locations in order to stop this movement. There is no more clunk! I'm blown away. This may not solve everyone's clunk problems, but it's definitely something to check out. Again, big thanks to Dayle, who answered all of my questions very thoroughly, and whose springs were NOT the cause of the clunk. Now, I've gotta see how they change my handling at the autocross on the 29th! Some meta for searchers: springs lower suspension dayle motorsport warehouse clunk struts lowered
