The project hidden under the deck!

I mentioned the 'project' that SVXfiles had stored under his deck that we came into agreement on. I just don't know what to call it. He told me of the 'project' when we were discussing a similar car,The 85 XT, and it was mentioned as a 'parts' car. I DUCk-WALKED under the deck, faced the hornets and other wild creatures, and came face to face with the very car that I wanted for the autocross!! It played out that before he fell in love with the SVX, that he had a 'fondness for the XT! He had taken a low mileage XT wreck, and put a Ford GT -40 replica glass body on it!! I haven't asked what caused the loss of interest, but when I stated that the project was on again! It seemed to bring pleasure to him! My plan is to have the XTGT at the oct autocross as a perticipant. It will be there as a spectator on the 31st. Any of you folks that are at Cumberland airport on that weekend are welcome to comment. WHAT IS IT!!! Is it a Ford or a Subaru????? Jerry

The 'specimin' was removed to a local truck wash to blast the remaining crud off, and then hauled to the 'farm'. It now is in the company of 5 of the other Subi's in the family.
There was a Demo-Derby on sat nite and our son wanted to smush a Caddy we had, so the subi project took a back seat for a few days. BUT, that's out of the way now, so the focus this week will be the 95 Legacy and the project FORMALLY under the deck!
It will be a long row to hoe, but I feel that it will be worthwhile. There are some rust issues on the subi part that demand immediate action, but the fiberglass will offer minimal resistance. The interior will be a seat and glass panels, shifter and guages.
The roof is 4" above the steering wheel, and I'm 6'4", and pushing 250! It may be a T-top when its done! (due to the need for a place to put my head!)
I will also have to pad the roll bar. The thing fits like a 4X4 turbo 5 speed GO-CART!!
This will be an interesting oct autocross!
Jerry here, (on wifes puter again)

Its ALIVE!!

after about 8 years of rest, The project formerly under the deck has awakend! It took a little coaxing, but it woke up. I pulled it out onto the 60's vintage 1/4 mile dirt track, and took a couple laps! They were slow laps, but it MOVED and all the buttons worked. I eventually hit the gas hard enough to get into the turbo a little and the turbo light came on and it acted like it had lots more! It drove into the shop and it will remain there till the welding is done.

The new shops are in, and the 'project' will be going full swing soon. I had to take a break from it for the winter. BUT it did go out and play in the snow a couple times!!

needs a lot of 'glass work' to make it pretty, and svxfiles is a frequent visitor, so I told him he gets to help me finish it!!

Thanks for the interest

Jerry

Rack

I probably have a power steering pump and steering rack that would fit that car. It came from an 86 Turbo XT GL10. The pump had a slight leak (O Ring) but other than that both worked fine. The XT was a FWD only, but was sure fun to drive---as long as you kept the RPMs up. I would have kept it, but I have to many toys as it is.

Is it the pump that bolts to the firewall and runs on 12 volts?? We have a spare that we are putting on the 'tilt' for our snow plow project!!

It already has PS, thanks anyway, It's a 4X4 turbo 5 speed.. It only has 45k on it. it was rolled by the former owner, and svxfiles cut the body off and caged it, and started applying the fiberglass.

I can relate to the "too many" thing!! I have 4 pickups and 2 outbacks insured, and about 25 others laying around for 'future use'. 8 of which are subi's..
I had to buy the farm to have a place to park them!
