Need some inputs

I have hear a great deal of using Mobile 1 together with B&M Trany cooler plus a external filter to prolong transmission life.
Anyone ever change the internal transmission filter??( drop the pan, replace the filter, little O ring on the filter and pan gasket)

I did it on my J30 which I belief its also got a 4EAT transmission with good result.

What is the part # for the internal filter? Does subaru sell them as a kit?
Thanks a lot!!!

Significant Technical Input
The internal filter is actually a fine screen. If it plugs up you probably have larger concerns than which oil to use. (meanng that the fiction material or some metal part(s) has accumulated enough particles to plug the filter - not a good thing) On the other hand, changing it can't hoit either.

I have changed that internal screen a few times. Now I just pull it out, back flush it with parts cleaner, blow it dry, replace the o-ring and put it back. Like Beav says if it's pulled up real bad theer should be major problems. I also clean the magnet off that's inside the pan. If you replace the the screen filter, the one from Subaru is recommended (my me) as it has a different inlet which helps to keep out air/foam.

Unfortunately with the internal filter you don't actually know how plugged it is unless you cut it open.

Mine looked nice until I did this and saw all the metal lodged in the screen.

(Now how does that Fram saying go? )
