On a side note I'll be Chicago for about a month in september working offsite QA at High Voltage.

Unfortunately, the svx stays in California.

I've wanted to break into video game developer for awhile now, but am languishing in QA.
I work for Volition now. Volition and Outrage were sister companies, so I knew a lot of people here. While I was at Outrage I worked on the XBox and PC ports of RF2, so I knew a lot of people here at Volition.

I know plenty of QA guys who have moved up into producer or project manager roles - it's certainly one path to take through development. I imagine it's tough to rise above the crowd in CA, though - there sure are a lot of people in QA.
