Yup I think that's the key. On the car with no heavy forces from a press that pre-load the bearing to an early failure.

So, SOA has finally admitted there was a problem (at least with some vehicles).

This was referenced in my post over a year ago describing that Subaru of Canada had admitted a problem.

Thanks for the link. Half looks interesting. I say "half", because as usual, the stupid pdf thingy won't work properly, or give any intimation why it's not loading/loaded. Grrrrrrr.

I would be a very rich man if I had a pound, or even a dollar, for every minute I have sat waiting for pdfs to load. Please can they sell the company to Apple or somebody, so that when you press a button or ask the software to do something, it actually does it? Not too much to ask, surely?

I noticed that now Subaru is saying that the bearing should be installed right out of the package? Does this mean that we should no longer have the "oops, I forgot to clean out the shipping preservative and pack the bearing with real bearing lube before installing it" related bearing failure mode?

Opening PDFs inside a web browser can be finicky. I usually just right-click, "Save Target As", and save it to my desktop. Then I go to the desktop and open it in the actual Acrobat program. Much faster and tremendously more reliable than the browser integration.

I still believe they should be able to do something about the problem, as they make a big deal about the universal nature of pdfs.

The term itself, pdf, means, if I am not mistaken, printable downloadable file/s.

Well if it won't open in my browser, or is fussy about browsers, then it is not really Downloadable, now is it??

They ought to go back to code basics and fix the thing, or else leave out the D, as they are NOT universally downloadable.

I think it actually means Postscript Document Format. I could be wrong though.

Yes they do need to fix the bugs, but that can be said about most programs...
