Painted wheels
Would like to hear the details on the proper way to prep and paint wheels. Something I might actually try once I get out of Turkey and back to North Dakota.
Another option would be to get a used stove and set it up to powder coat them. Which I might also consider. the final option is let smoeone who knows what they are doing paint them for me. Chris |

Here is a great link that got me started
http://www.duplicolor.com/projects/howto_wheel.html I take things a bit further than this however... I do use their paint & clear (didn't use there grease/wax remover) as it has yet again given me an amazing finish! You can't really tell (at least with this darker color) that it's 'rattle can' You have to take your time... that is very important. I've done one set of wheels without tires mounted & my most recent set with tires mounted... each have their advantages... I would say that if you had masking stuff off and you're getting new tires soon, pull off the tires, refinish them, then get the new tires mounted. If you aren't replacing tires soon... get some good paper & some good tape for preping. I'll try & get some pics of the wheels tonight if I have time. I'll post them up for those interested. I may start a new thread in Mod Mania or something. Stay tuned Last edited by omahasubaru; 10-23-2003 at 07:17 AM. |

pictures will be coming today and/or Monday.
I have the newly re-finished wheels on the car and they look great with claret/black! really shows how bad I need window tint though. |
