They look great. What did you use to paint them? Type of paint? Any special prep work?

@SubaruJawn you should look into the Rain-X Restoration kit. It's what I used and the results were just fantastic... kit is only like $15 or less.

Did u need to use a drill to get the results you got? do I have to remove them from the car? I wet sanded mine with 2000 paper and then polished them . I have to try the turtle Rain X stuff. Some people swear by Mothers and Turtle Wax too. Yours did look great.

i used turtle wax headlight restore came clean alittle bit, and little more down the road when i did this wax.

i'm interested in the clear headlights, so i might just deal with it till then.

both times hand buffed, i do have buffer but huge for just headlights.

Thanks. I used Rustoleum white primer and Krylon stainless steel topcoat. I just used a wire brush and a scraper to get the real loose stuff off and then sandpaper and lots of elbow grease to get down to a smooth surface. I think I started with 80 grit sandpaper and worked my way down to 220. By the time I was done sanding, it was mostly bare metal with a few spots of original primer where there had been no peeling. I primed them with two thin coats and then let them sit about a week in 70º temp, and then did two topcoats and am letting them sit at least a week before having tires mounted. Someone mentioned that I should paint between the beads, but since there was no paint there originally, I don't think I'll go to the work of doing it.

We'll see how long it lasts.

Rearranged the wheels or rotated the tires..sorta speak.
put the RR on LF on the RF
RF when to LR the LR went to RR

now the wheels are on backwards.

Just replaced the heater mode motor.... what a pain the rearmost screw is to get back on threads

Now I get full defrost - one gear had lost a few of its teeth.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

A work in progress of the engine cover that is slowly coming along as spare time permits. (and has been kind of a PITA to do )

The cover was already missing the logo and looked like crap beforehand so I nominated it to project material just for funzies.
Finally made some headway with it this weekend and took some photos as it is... though, it isn't done yet.
Hope to start on the gear selector after this is completed as I've been sitting on that idea for over a year now.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Drove the 97 while my brother drove the silver 600 miles to Meadville, PA.
Silver only devoured 2 quarts of oil on this trip.

Edit: I still don't understand why everyone is so afraid to drive their SVX more than around the block....

I can't say for sure but I don't think the tranny will blow itself up. You should get some warning and be able to limp home . Your tranny sounded really strong in the video.

Since getting her back on the road, my SVX has become my daily driver (again), driving her 70 miles/day to work, 6 days/week.

Going back to the body shop today to have a small scratch fixed and a full body buffing.
