Re: ****ing thieves. :(
I remember when that car was for sale, and I remember his %**$*@ post when the dumpster got shoved into it or whatever when the door got the huge gash in it. I'll keep my eyes open, check out www.crazedlist.org lets you search all of craigslist... Good place to start I looked on there the other night but didn't see any white SVXes for sale...

get this
thanks, but i owned it outright. i called all the tow companies, no tow. this baby was STOLEN.
get this now: the police are no help at all (big suprise). i actually found my tires on sacramento craigslist. 4 nankang tires i KNOW thses are my tires. 1: the rare brand name nankang 2: the size 225 45 17 not common 3: the treadwear is idententical (i checked my tires daily... iknew ever little divot and the tread depth and everything. the feathering of the edges in the close up view are exactly identical to the wear on my tires. they are dead ringers.) 4:the posting was on sunday, Jan 11. my car was stolen on the night of Saturday, Jan 10. 4:the guy was really sketchy on the phone, lying to me about how long he had them, and how long they were posted on craigslist... 5: and the "business" is operated out of a rental storage unit. (!) (!) i went there to stake the place out, and i saw the unit full of tires, right when i showed up he closed up the lid and took off in an 80's ford molester van, which can be seen in one of the photos (barely). i got his license plate, and i told the cops. the cops DONT CARE! unless i have a name or probable cause (WTF) they are not helping me. the cop told me i would "have to investigate this on my own". what more do i need? i KNOW they are my tires. i have a bill of sale for them. my car is stolen with a stolen vehicle report and everything. i found parts of my stolen car.... ummmm hello? so i am now on my own.... can anyone run license plates? california handicap E8588 the cops said if he was on probation they could do a probabtion search. thats about it. i know this is the key to getting my car back... i will keep you posted thanks for the input Last edited by intellibomb; 01-17-2009 at 05:13 PM. |

Re: ****ing thieves. :(
Quick search found you can go to your local DMV and run plates for 2 dollars.
"In California anyone can go to DMV and for a fee, it used to be $2 run any plates. One thing in this state peace officers can request a confidentiallity flag be put on their plates so the bad guys can't run them. We of course have many celebs out here. So DMV will flag their files so if they are run, even by LEO's, someone from the Department of Justice will be on the phone within 15 minutes to determine if it is a legitimate stop/request or not." might cost more now but worth it. I found that comment after searching. Hope you get some info on your car. It can't stay hidden for long. Are there any identifying things on your car, say a dent somewhere or anything might help? I have no problem calling him and setting up a time to meet in which you can show up

Re: ****ing thieves. :(
You might try calling the storage place see what they can do... Maybe get a few friends together, see if you can trail the van to some place... Might also call a few lawyers and explain the situation and see if any of them would be willing to help you out. Also try the state/county police, they tend to be more helpful than city cops, get some of your evidence/findings together and documented in written form, and go to the police.. Having all your ducks in a row helps them out, and will make them more likely to help you.

Its right after the DOT number on the tire! The serial number is supposed to be on your paper work and in the computers from where ever you bought them. Sadly, the pictures from Craigslist are to grainy I couldn't get you the number off them But I would go with a PI and use this as a very good basis for tracking down your car. Dustin

Re: ****ing thieves. :(
Yeah, I agree, if you can prove those tires are yours, that's probable cause for the cops to search the storage unit, his house, etc...
