Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

Looks great! Why do you need a new coolant crossover pipe?

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

The black pipe coming off the back is not available separately, and mine did not come with one when I bought one from a network member. And I destroyed my original when removing it for cleaning.

That network member is me.
Cam, I think I still have it. I remember seeing it at one point and thinking that I need to set it aside. Then when I cleaned up and organized everything, I think I might have thrown it in a bin with intake manifolds and other engine bits... I'll see if I can find it again.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

No worries. If you have it great. But if not its no hard feelings. Honest mistake.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

More progress. Missing a couple miscellaneous bolts I will have to order.

The flash on the camera is responsible for the color mismatch between the oil fill cap and the valve covers. In equal lighting they are a perfect match. I have a cool paint-job in mind for the H-6 cover too. Probably work on that this week sometime.

Bad news though...My dog was attacked today with my girlfriend when they were on a walk. The owner of the other dog restrained the lab that attacked my husky, but the damage was done and my dog suffered a laceration to her side by her hip. It's nothing serious, life threatening, or even worrisome, but the vet bill did not reflect that one bit. This @$$hole left when my girlfriend walked the one block back to our house to come get me so I could deal with all the BS and make sure that they were safe. So, we were left to foot the bill.

May push my plans for turning her over back a couple weeks, especially with christmas right around the corner...*sigh*. I will do my best to have her running in 1 week, though. Damn priorities...

Bummer, sorry to hear about your dog, wished your GF called you instead.

Your engine looks good, can't wait for you to crank it up

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

Joining this party very late, sorry to hear about your dog good to hear that everything will be ok though.

This is a very interesting thread and good for those hoping to do the same in the future. I read the majority of the thread but didn't see what the projected hp/tq improvements would be over stock, if any?

I have no idea to be honest. This is the first build I am aware of using these cam profiles and piston combination. Horsepower and torque will increase a significant amount, but exactly how much is yet to be seen. I am also going ECUTUNE 2v7 for engine management and doing the z32 maf and bluetop injectors. I figure I should have a decently fast, very strong motor at the end of the day. Dyno slips will come eventually.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

I put the last order into subaru today. 1stsubaruparts.com. Saved like 20 bucks over subaruparts.com. It was about a 10% savings...and I have spent quite a bit at subaruparts.com. Kind of kicking myself now

No worries though. Once the box shows up it will only take about 20 minutes to finish prepping the engine for install. Just need to attach the power steering rail on the bottom of the pass. side head, and throw 2 bolts into the egr that I was missing . I have a hoist sitting in the garage I just bought off a friend.

In the mean time it's just getting the garage ready for the work. Need to do a dump run and deliver our old couch to the girlfriends mom. So, I would say next weekend I should be dropping the engine in, and bar any problems, cranking her over . I cannot express how happy, relieved, and excited I am all at once over this.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

Cam, did you ever get the pipe you were needing? or did you end up placing that in your order?
I have no clue where the one I had disappeared to.
If you want me to refund whatever I charged you for the crossover pipe, just let me know...

Got another X-over from OT. I'm not worried about the cost. It's not a big deal. I appreciate the offer, though.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild

Got the crank pulley torqued today. Made the tool myself out of flat stock and 5/16" grade 8 bolts. I will post a pic of the tool soon.
