water pump
well my timing belt broke today on the way to get the water pump fixed. does anyone know how bad this is. i think that it might mean rebuilding the whole engine. please god i hope not cause i am in college and i don't want to have to get rid of my baby. well if anyone has had this prob and knows how the engine works when it happens

If it's just a broken belt you should be OK.
Do a search...the belt had to come off anyway to do the waterpump. Since you had to pay the pump labor anyway, you're really only out the $75 additional for the belt. However, most people on here recommend changing the seals while the front is opened up and the labor is mostly already covered by the waterpump/belt change. |

did you drive with a failed water pump?!
ah! noooo! so did i. i dont think the damage will be irrepairable unless you felt/heard something seize up..... the eg33 is very sturdy, but there is possibility for damage, maybe to your pulleys, possibly (yet unlikely) to your cams, depends. how long did you keep the engine ignited? did you pop it in neutral and kill it? who thinks you might have to rebuild the engine?
